Why are Registered Nurses Important?
A registered nurse is a valuable and important part of any health care system. They are highly respected and valued people in the health care profession. They play a key role to promote wellness, prevent illness, maintaining and restoring health properly by performing a wide range of services. They provide and coordinate patient care, provides advice and emotional support to patients and their family members, and educates patients and the public about various health conditions and how to prevent future illness.
What is Nursing Competency?
Comprehensive Core Competency Checklist in Nursing:
- The competent nurse responsible to ensure standard nursing practice and conduct meets the standards of the professional, ethical, and relevant legislated requirements.
- The competent nurse is accountable for directing, monitoring, and evaluating nursing care that is provided by enrolled nurses and others.
- Ability to makes appropriate decisions when assigning care, delegating activities, and providing direction for enrolled nurses and others.
- Ability to promote an environment that enables health consumer safety, independence, quality of life, and health.
- Ability to practices nursing in a manner that the health consumer or patient determines as being culturally safe.
- Ability to provide high-quality nursing care to achieve identified outcomes.
- Ability to undertake a comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of health consumers in a variety of settings.
- Ability to ensure documentation accurately and maintains the confidentiality of information.
- They have enough proficiency to ensure the health consumer has an adequate explanation of the effects, consequences, and alternatives of proposed treatment options.
- Capability to protect oneself and others when faced with unexpected health consumer responses, confrontation, personal threat, or other crises.
- Capability to evaluate health consumer’s progress toward expected outcomes in partnership with health consumers.
- Ability to provide appropriate health education to the needs of the health consumer within a nursing framework.
- Competent nurse having to share mind to reflects upon and evaluates with peers and experienced nurses, the effectiveness of nursing care.
- Ability to maintain professional development. Ability to use up-to-date knowledge and evidence to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence change, and promote health and best practice.
- Ability to establish maintains and concludes therapeutic interpersonal relationships with health consumers.
- Capability to collaborates and participates with colleagues and members of the health care team to facilitate and coordinate care.
